Thomas J. Roberts, of Elk Grove Village, passed away on the morning of, March 22, 2024. He was the devoted husband of 68 years to Marjorie Roberts; Proud father of Tom (Denise) Roberts, Lynn Roberts (Matt Sass) and Ann (Jim) Brown; Cherished brother of Monie (Bill) Davis; Beloved grandfather of Lindsay Roberts, Jacob (Lanai)Brown, Wes Brown, Emily (Cowan) Brown, Scott Roberts, Caroline Roberts, Tommy Roberts, Taylor Brown and Jack Roberts and loving great-grandfather to Carter Brown, Kennedy Brown & Isaiah Brown.
Tom was preceded in death by his granddaughter Lauren Brown and son Tim (Liz) Roberts.
Tom was born June 10, 1928 into the coal-mining town of Edwardsville, PA during the Great Depression, a condition that formed a tough-minded and resolute core within him- Submission or quitting were outcasts to him. After high school he enlisted in the Navy, and served on the USS Providence. With the GI Bill he was able to attend the University of Iowa where he earned a degree in chemistry. Thereafter he was in sales for Lederle Laboratories where he met future wife Marge, who was the receptionist for a physician. Fast-forwarding through an interesting & adventurous work life, in 1972 he established Hospital Therapy Products, Inc., manufacturing products for treatment of burn wounds and built 5 commercial buildings. He continued to work until he was 85 years of age.
He loved family & family gatherings, all-things-Iowa, especially Hawkeyes football, and his favorite hobby: Working. He was a life-long Christian who emphasized Christ to children & grand-children and continued to grow as a Christian until the very end of his life.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 30, from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, with the funeral service at 11:00 am, at The Village Point Church, 801 Beisner Rd, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007. The service will be follow by lunch at the church. Interment will be at North Cemetery, 1205 N 5th Ave, St. Charles, IL 60174.
