Obituary

Steger, Ruth Anita (nee Guetslaff) age 85, passed to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at her home in Plainfield, IL. Born in Milwaukee, WI to Walter and Doris Guetslaff. Graduated in 1949 from Park College in MO with a BA Degree in Philosophy and Religion. It is there that she met her husband Ray and they married in 1949. Ruth served as her husband's helper in the ministry in PA, KA and WI for 49 years. She was President of Seminary Wives at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Directed adult and children choirs, and wrote and directed several programs in the church. She served as Lay Speaker for The United Methodist Church. She served on the Southern Area Aglow Board as Vice President of Leadership Training.

Ruth enjoyed writing poetry for family and friends, including some that were published. Blessing someone each day in her own special ways brought her great joy. "It is not who I am, or what I do, but whose I am that counts."

She is survived by her 3 children, Wendy (Zake) Rayes of Denver, CO, Davin (Jodi) Steger of Waupun, WI, and Douglas (Susan) Steger of Plainfield, IL. 7 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and her sister Doris Syring of Allen, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Steger, as well as her parents.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 12:30pm at Life Spring Community Church in Plainfield. There will be a visitation preceding the service from 11:30 to 12:30.
