Roberta G. "Bobbie" Hogan, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, peacefully passed away at the age of 99 on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. She was born on October 1, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, to Louis and Phoebe Kramer.
Bobbie Hogan is survived by her children: Daniel E. Ryder, Carol Witkowski, and Thomas Hogan; her daughters-in-law Sandy Hogan and Monika McMillen; her nine grandchildren, along with their spouses; and her many adoring great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John T. Hogan Sr.; her son, John "Jack" T. Hogan Jr.; her son-in-law, Victor Witkowski; and her siblings, Georgie, Bob, and Ed.
Born and raised in the heart of Chicago, Bobbie was known for her indomitable spirit and contagious laugh. Throughout her life, she embarked on a journey marked by versatility and creativity. She pursued various professions, including roles such as an elevator operator, a Kodak film processor, a typesetter for a printing company, and a gifted artist, having attended the Art Institute of Chicago. She met her husband Jack as welders at Federal Sign Corporation and bravely served her country during the war, working for the defense department, where she skillfully operated a forklift.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Bobbie was an avid golfer, bowler, and roller skater, finding joy and camaraderie in these sports. She was also a talented crafter, delighting in creating beautiful pieces that she shared with others at craft shows.
A woman of deep faith, Bobbie was actively involved in her church communities, first at Bethel Bible Church and Oak Lawn Bible Church in Chicago and later at College Park Church in Indianapolis. She eagerly participated in Bible studies, finding solace and strength in her relationship with Jesus Christ and her love for singing hymns and spreading the Gospel with tracts. She embodied the principles of kindness, compassion, and love.
Bobbie Hogan's life was one characterized by resilience, passion, creativity, and faith. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
To celebrate Bobbie's life, a visitation will be held at Bethel Bible Church, 3225 W. 96th St., Evergreen Park, Illinois 60805 on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
