Lucy Vicker, age 85, a resident of Oak Lawn, IL, since 1961, went to be with the Lord, peacefully at home on Thursday, August 31, 2023.  She was born April 16, 1938 in Evergreen Park, IL to Arthur and Vivian Schackow.

Lucy grew up in Palos Heights.  She graduated in 1956 from Blue Island Community High School, where she met Robert "Bob" Vicker.  They were married on June 6, 1959. She graduated from IL State University and began a teaching career.  For 30 years she taught 7th and 8th grade at Conrady Junior High in Hickory Hills where she was head of the Math Department and coordinated the Givted Program. In retirement Bob and Lucy enjoyed camping, traveling to every state except Hawaii. They have enjoyed being members of the camping group, Escapees.

Lucy's Christian faith was central to her life and she often encouraged others with God's love. She and Bob were active members of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Downers Grove .

She is survived by three children, Tracy (Dennis) Doherty, David (Debra) Vicker and Wendy (Mike) Cusick, seven grandchildren, Ronald (Heather) Czimra, Holly (James) Gossage, Gabriel Joyce, Jennifer (the late Paul) Aleman, Elizabeth (Rodrigo) Cambron, Erin Cusick and Morgan Cusick, and ten great-grandchildren, Trinity, Christopher, Mackenzie, Ryan, Maddison, Liam, Nicholas, Isabel, Rodrigo Jr. and Noreda.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 2020, her daughter, Terry Lynn Vicker, her grandson, Robert Vicker, and her parents.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 8th  from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 525 63rd St, Downers Grove, IL 60516 (630) 852-1519 , where a funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m

Private interment will be held at Chapel Hill Garden's South.
