LeRoy Riske, age 95, a longtime resident of Lisle and recently of Fairview Village in Downers Grove, died Tuesday, November 13 at Fairview Baptist Home. He was born on January 13, 1912 in Chicago to Reinhart and Lydia Riske. When LeRoy was 2 years old, his family moved to Idaho as homesteaders.
On April 1, 1935 he married Mildred May Salmon. He worked as a baker and cake decorator in a family business and during the war he worked in a war factory. He also worked in the grocery business and worked for many years for Downers Grove High School and Fairmont Grade School. He was an active member and church leader at Lisle Bible Church. He enjoyed gardening and beekeeping and often gave away a jar of honey.
He is survived by three children, Nola (Jim) Chapman of Lisle, Dwight (Beatrice) Riske of West Chicago, and Pam (John) Holic of Venice, FL, 7 grandchildren, Scott, Carrie, Alicia, Philip, Aaron, Nathan and Jason, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his wife, parents and one sister, Esther.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 16, from 4 until 8 p.m. at Lisle Bible Church 1302 Lacey (at Rt. 53), in Lisle, and also on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:30. Interment will follow at Lisle Cemetery.
