Obituary

Kevin Schoenbeck, 66, of Downers Grove, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Born on October 28, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, Kevin was the beloved son of Delbert and Joyce Schoenbeck.

Kevin spent his formative years in Darien, Illinois, where he graduated from Hinsdale South High School. He pursued his passion for service by completing his education at the College of DuPage Fire Academy and dedicating his time as a volunteer with the Tri-State Fire Protection District. A community-minded individual, Kevin played a pivotal role as a founding member of the Willowbrook/Burr Ridge Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of the Fairview Condominium Association.  He was the owner of Uni-Carrier and Industrial property.

Kevin was an active and cherished member of both Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Downers Grove and Christ the King Lutheran Church in Palatine. His faith and commitment to his community were evident in all that he did.

Known for his gregarious nature, Kevin was a man of great humility, kindness, and compassion. He had a talent for woodworking and found joy in refinishing furniture. His greatest love, however, was reserved for his family, particularly his cherished nieces and nephews.

Kevin is survived by his brother, Paul Schoenbeck; his sisters, Pam (Mark) Hoyord and Susan (David) Hannenberg; his beloved nieces and nephews, Alyssa, Luke (Valerie), Heidi Hannenberg, and Samantha (Jake) Lipski, and Jennifer Hoyord; and his great-nephew, Finley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Joyce Schoenbeck, his grandparents, his aunt Elaine Chidester, and his uncle Donald Kolzow.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 5211 Carpenter St., Downers Grove, IL 60515. The service will be livestreamed through the church's website: https://www.ilcdg.org/watch-live/ . Interment will follow at Clarendon Hills Cemetery in Darien, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church in Palatine and AA, organizations that were close to Kevin's heart.
