J. "Larry" Halka, age 59, a resident of Naperville, died Wednesday, March 31 at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood. He was born on September 10, 1950.
Larry grew up in Bellwood and Westchester and graduated from Proviso West High School. He worked for Loyola Medical Center in Information Technology for over 20 years. He recently earned his license to work as a financial planner and worked for Primerica. He enjoyed playing his guitar and was a Star Trek fan. He also enjoyed playing golf and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was dedicated to his service of his Lord Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Lizette, one daughter, Leslie (Jeremy) Kitt of Mt. Prospect, 2 grandchildren, Nathan Jung and Violet Kitt, and five siblings, Terri Weaks, John Halka, Doug Halka, Chris Kilgore and Lindy Burckle, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Halka and Patricia Fisher.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 6 at 7:00 P.M. at Amazing Grace Community Church, 1401 Newcastle, Westchester, IL 60154 (www.amazinggrace.org), where friends may visit with the family from 3 to 7 P.M.
