Thornton "Hutch" Hutchins, age 81, of Kenilworth, beloved husband for 56 years of Beverly; loving father of Mark (Karen) of Peoria, IL, and Sarah (Ray) Lester of Libertyville, IL; and proud grandfather of Luke and Ryan, and Nicholas, Rachael, and Jonathon. Born Sept. 3, 1925 in Griffith, IN, he died Sunday, April 15, at the VA Medical Center in North Chicago. Hutch was an officer in the Navy during World War II. He graduated from the University of Rochester in New York. He also earned a Master's degree from Purdue University. He was a teacher and a basketball coach. He then changed careers and became a financial planner with Cigna Financial. He was an active member of Winnetka Covenant Church where he served as chairman. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 19, at 10:30 A.M. at Winnetka Covenant Church, 1200 Hibbard Rd., Wilmette, IL 60091. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the church.
