David N. Holcomb, age 71, a longtime resident of Lisle, died suddenly, Wednesday, January 9, 2008. He was born on Sioux City, Iowa on September 12, 1936 to Hollis and Kathryn Holcomb.

He received a Phd. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Illinois. For 25 years he worked at Kraft Food and for the last 13 years has owned and operated the Bookstores of America on Main St. in Lisle. He was a loving husband and father and his faith was an important part of his life. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Downers Grove.

David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Doris, four children, Timothy Holcomb of Columbus, OH, Mark (Jeanne) Holcomb of Ft. Atkinson, WI, Samuel (Kimberly) Holcomb of Kailua, HI, and Kathryn (Christian) Perillo of North Lauderdale, FL, and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dean Holcomb.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 13th from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 525 63rd Street, in Downers Grove, IL 60512, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, January 14th at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be held privately at Lisle Cemetery.
