David George Cornwell, age 77, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021 at Asbury Court Nursing & Rehabilitation in Des Plaines, IL. He was born on December 13, 1943 in Chicago to Wilbur and Gertrude Cornwell. He is survived by his sister Lori Dolin and nephews Jon Billman and Mark Billman.

He attended the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle (UICC) campus and graduated from DeVry University.

David worked as the traveling sound engineer for Fred Waring and The Pennsylvanians where he met celebrities such as Bob Hope and Jackie Gleason while touring with the band. As a lifelong lover of music, he went on to invent new technologies for sound equipment at RG Dynamics, Inc. where he was a V.P.

David was also a collector of antiques and American Flyer miniature trains. He loved to cook (with lots of garlic) and watch anything Star Trek or Harry Potter related. He was a spiritual man and involved in many church activities, including operating the sound system and occasionally playing the organ during services. In his later years, David joined the Salvation Army participating in choir, bible studies, and bell ringing for kettle collections. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

A visitation will be held at the Norridge Salvation Army Citadel Corps Community Center located at  8354 W. Foster Avenue, Norridge, IL 60706 on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois.
