Belva Lytle Dennis Skanse, age 90, died Oct 4, 2006 at Fairview Nursing Home, Downers Grove, IL. She was born February 6, 1916 in Fairview, NC to Emory & Mary Lytle.
Belva graduated from Fairview High School, Fairview, NC and a 2 year Business College. On Sept 6, 1946 Belva married Alvin Dennis in Greenville, SC.
Alvin and Belva lived on several military bases throughout the course of Alvin's military career in the Army and the Air Force. Belva worked during this time in various secretarial, accounting and finance positions. She especially enjoyed the years they spent in Anchorage, AK. They retired to Wheaton, IL and Alvin passed away on June 3, 1977. In Wheaton, Belva worked many years for the Christian Service Brigade. On July 1, 1984, Belva married Peter I. R. Skanse in Riverdale, IL. They enjoyed traveling together and visited the Brazil mission field.
Throughout the years, Belva has been faithfully involved in church ministries. In addition to ministry, she enjoyed sewing, hand crafts, reading, gardening and traveling.
Belva is survived by her stepchildren, Peter (Peggy) Skanse, John (Melody) Skanse, Vera (Dennis) Laney and their families; her sisters, Thelma Miller and Mary Lanning and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin Dennis, her second husband, Peter I. R. Skanse, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
Belva will be interred in Emma's Grove Baptist Cemetery, Fletcher, NC.
