Obituary

No one could give a hug like Bailey Noelle Shrader. When she wrapped her arms around you, it was as if you were being pulled inside her heart, a place so warm and big, that you could lose yourself in its beauty. Born and raised in Orland Park, Bailey adored sports, and despite a lifelong struggle with mental illness, never let her teammates down. Whether she was hitting a softball clear across the field, scoring the winning point in a basketball game, or leaping into the air to spike a volleyball over the net, her spirit and enthusiasm were contagious.

Bailey Noelle Shrader died November 17 at her grandparents' home in Orland Park, IL. She was born January 3, 1991 in Blue Island, IL, and was 17 years old. A senior at Glen Oaks School in Glendale Heights, IL, she was an avid participant in all of their extra-curricular athletic programs, earning over a dozen ribbons for athletic excellence. She also played on the Orland Park District softball league, and previously, for Carl Sandburg High School's softball team. She was also involved in the youth ministry at Parkview Christian Church.

Bailey was one of those kids who always stood up for the underdog, no matter what. Her courageous battle with bi-polar disorder inspired a heroic character in a bestselling book.

Bailey is survived by her mother, Becky Heim; her father, John Shrader; her grandparents; Anton and Judith Heim, and Irene Shrader; her sisters, Tayler and Brianne; and her brothers, Matthew and Johnny.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Donald Shrader.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, from 3-9 P.M. at Parkview Christian Church, 183rd and Wolf Road, in Orland Park, where a service will be held on Friday at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be private.

Bailey loved to dream about taking part in a mission's trip at church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the mission's program at Parkview Christian Church, 11100 Orland Parkway, Orland Park, IL 60467.
